Thanks for joining me! Thank you to the generous and talented photographers of Pexels and Unsplash for allowing me to use some of their images.
It is a bit ironic living and working in the birthplace of the Tech Boom, affectionately known as Silicon Valley, and having both consciously and subconsciously resisted creating a website. My internal blocks included not wanting to spend a moment more than necessary in front of a screen when I could be directly connecting with the natural world around me. I have managed to have a thriving massage practice for most of this decade which is attributed to hard work, advanced skills through practice, trusting intuition, and being an individual who believes in and nurtures community.
This past year has been one filled with character-building and soul-testing challenges including the devastating Tubbs Fires that scorched the county of my youth. I’ve reflected and learned a great deal from this unforgiving element and how it continues to remind humans of both their humanity and fragility. “The LOVE is thicker than the smoke” has been the beating pulse that has woven together Sonoma and Napa Counties through the aftermath of sifting through ash after a lifetime of building a home and the slow rebuild of houses. I witness how this community is strong as a whole, binding together and healing. As a massage therapist I also witness how tension is being held in the body, and carefully inviting it to release. Addressing these traumatic wounds of surviving a fatal fire have become part of the focus of my practice here in Sonoma County.
